Williams & Graham doing drinks right in Denver

When I first heard about the new speakeasy William’s & Graham I have to admit I was worried the place was going to be a let down. The few others I’ve been to lately have felt contrived to say the least…over populated with people drinking fancy cocktails, but no sense of actually being in a back-room, secretive, and drinker friendly establishment.

William’s & Graham quickly exceeded my expectations on all fronts. The place is setup like you’d hope an illegal establishment would be. The bar is very dimly lit with a beautiful bar top, tin ceilings, and a welcoming staff of bartenders set to impress. As opposed to some places you walk into where you feel like you’re doing the bartender a favor by merely ordering a drink, these folks were genuine and kind professionals ready to show you their chops. The liquor selection at William’s and Graham is phenomenal and the bartenders are eager to provide details about the breadth of booze. I quickly found myself drinking an “Old” Old Fashioned that was as much a delight to watch being made as it was to drink.

Beyond the drinks William’s & Graham has a surprisingly strong menu of food. From candied popcorn to pork belly and Sailor Jerry ice cream sandwiches this place is producing some highly tasty eats. The service was prompt and everything I tried not only tasted great, but really seemed in sync with the atmosphere of the joint.

If you’re looking for something new in the Lower Highlands of Denver, I strongly recommend giving Williams & Graham a try. This isn’t a place you go for the cheapest drinks in town, but it a place you go for a wonderful drinking experience.
